Short answer: A monthly plan fits owners who want someone else to host, update and look after the website and Google profile. A one-time build fits owners who have the time, or a person, to do that upkeep. AP Visible starts with a twelve-month plan, $450 plus $199 a month. The buyout is $1,250, with your $450 as credit from your six-month review.
Most small shops end up deciding between paying once for a website or paying every month for someone to run it. Neither one is always right. This note lays out what really changes between the two, so you can pick the one that matches how much time you have.
We sell a monthly plan, so read this knowing that. We also print a price to own your site outright, because for some shops owning it is the better deal.
What changes between the two
- Who hosts it. Monthly: included. One-time build: you arrange hosting, and it’s often extra after the build.
- Who makes the small edits. Monthly: the provider, ideally the same week. One-time build: you, or whoever you pay each time.
- Who looks after the Google Business Profile. Monthly: depends on the plan, so ask. One-time build: usually you.
- Who renews the domain. Either way, someone has to renew it every year. Ask whose account it’s in and where the renewal notices go.
- How the cost works. Monthly: a smaller start and a bill every month you stay. One-time build: a bigger payment up front, then the upkeep costs and your own time.
Four questions that decide it
- How many hours a month can you, or someone on your staff, really give the website and Google profile?
- Who will change your holiday hours in December, and your prices when they go up?
- Do you need booking requests or Spanish pages now, or just a clean page with your hours and phone number?
- Would you rather keep cash now, or avoid a monthly bill later?
If you have a person who keeps things current and you rarely change anything, owning the site is often the better deal. If nobody has the time, a monthly plan keeps the site, hours and Google profile from going out of date.
How it works with AP Visible: you don’t have to choose forever
- Start monthly. $450 to start, our real cost of building the site, then $199 a month once it’s live. That covers the website, hosting, security, same-week edits, your managed Google profile, Spanish pages if you want them, and a monthly report. The plan runs twelve months, then month-to-month. Your domain’s yearly renewal isn’t part of the $199; it’s billed separately, $25 a year, starting in year two. Everything in the $199, line by line.
- Own it after your six-month review. The buyout is $1,250, printed in the contract and never negotiated. Once your six-month review is in good standing you can buy, and your $450 counts as credit on the buyout invoice.
- Example: you stay a full year, then buy. The first year costs $450 + (12 × $199) = $2,838, with no domain renewal in year one. Buying the site at month twelve means the $1,250 buyout, with your $450 counted as credit, and the monthly bill stops.
- What owning includes. Every file, help moving the hosting, 30 days of transition support, and your domain free if you buy after your six-month review with your account in good standing.
- What owning means for you. After the move, hosting, edits, the domain renewal and your Google profile are yours to look after.
Either way, you see a working preview for $0 before paying anything, and your Google listing is in your name from day one. Frequently asked questions
Is a monthly website plan worth it for a small shop?
It is if nobody on your side has time to keep the site, hours and Google profile current. If you or someone on staff can do that upkeep, owning the site and paying for hosting yourself usually costs less over time.
Can I switch from AP Visible's monthly plan to owning my site?
Yes, once your six-month review is in good standing. The buyout is $1,250, printed and never negotiated, and your $450 start fee counts as credit toward it. You get every file, help moving the hosting and 30 days of transition support.
What do I have to do myself after owning my site?
Hosting, edits, the yearly domain renewal and your Google Business Profile become yours to look after, or to pay someone for. Make sure renewal notices go to an email someone reads.
