State of local business websites 2026: Shorewood

What a customer finds when they look up a local shop in Shorewood: one page of numbers from our October 2026 check, with the sample size next to every figure.

Short answer: On October 28, 2026, AP Visible checked 49 independent shops in Shorewood listed in public business directories. 23 of 49 (47%) listed a website. Of 18 working sites we fully scored, 13 showed opening hours, 11 had tap-to-call, 8 linked to their Google listing and none had a Spanish version.

The numbers

Website features are counted only for listed sites that worked and were fully scored. The right-hand column is the whole study, all 9 towns, for context. Percentages are left off where the group is too small to support them.

Who is in the Shorewood sample

Restaurants & cafes 10, salons & barbershops 28, home services 5, auto repair 6 (49 independent businesses; chains and franchises left out). Most of these businesses (46 of 49) come from the Village of Shorewood business directory, which lists licensed businesses and often leaves the website field blank. That is the main reason fewer Shorewood listings show a website, so it should not be read as fewer Shorewood shops having one.

Broken and missing links

1 listed website did not work on the day we checked: a lapsed domain that now forwards to an unrelated out-of-state restaurant. 3 more listed sites could not be verified from our check machine and are left out. 1 listed site was not opened because its robots.txt asks not to be crawled.

None of the 18 working sites we scored had a Spanish-language version, a language switcher or a translate tool.

What this suggests for Shorewood shop owners

  • Check that the website link in your chamber, village or downtown directory listing is current and opens your own site.
  • Put your hours on your website as text, not only in a photo or on Facebook.
  • Make your phone number tappable, so customers on a phone can call in one tap.
  • Link to your Google listing so customers can read reviews and get directions.
  • Consider one Spanish page with your services, hours and how to book. None of the sites we checked here had one.

Read with care

  • Small sample: 18 fully scored websites is under our 20-site floor, so website features are shown as counts, not percentages.
  • This is a one-day snapshot (October 28, 2026) of businesses listed in public directories, not every business in Shorewood.
  • “Nothing listed” isn’t the same as “no website”: in a hand check across the whole study, 4 of 12 such businesses had one.
  • Towns aren’t ranked. Differences between towns mostly reflect which directory each town’s businesses came from.
  • Google Business Profiles, Facebook and Instagram pages, page speed and reviews weren’t checked.
  • No business is named in this report.
