Who is in the Oswego & Montgomery sample
Restaurants & cafes 9, salons & barbershops 5, home services 13, auto repair 2 (29 independent businesses; chains and franchises left out). Oswego (24 businesses) and Montgomery (5) are reported together because Montgomery alone is far too small to report, and almost all of both come from the same directory: 28 of 29 from the Oswego Area Chamber of Commerce, 1 from the Batavia chamber.
Broken and missing links
Every listed website we could verify loaded on the day we checked. 1 listed site could not be verified from our check machine and is left out. 2 working sites loaded only through an outside page-fetch tool, so their features weren’t scored.
None of the 19 working sites we scored had a Spanish-language version, a language switcher or a translate tool. One site said “Se habla español” on the page, which we record separately.
What this suggests for Oswego & Montgomery shop owners
- Check that the website link in your chamber, village or downtown directory listing is current and opens your own site.
- Put your hours on your website as text, not only in a photo or on Facebook.
- Make your phone number tappable, so customers on a phone can call in one tap.
